Signs - Abuse, Neglect

PHYSICAL ABUSE:

Physical indications of abuse occur more commonly in clusters of symptoms than as a single symptom. Assess for the presence of two (2) or more of the following:

  • Symmetric injuries on two (2) sides of the body
  • Unexplained bruises, welts, black eyes, cuts or burns
  • Bite marks
  • Lacerations
  • Puncture wounds
  • Dehydration …
