Effective January 1, 2003, the first six Joint Commission National Patient Safety Goals (NPSGs) became effective. An accredited organization and an organization seeking accreditation will have implemented all of the safety recommendations associated with the National Patient Safety Goals that are relevant to the services the organization provides.
